Recorder43 is a trade almanac — a standing register of web-based establishments compiled for the purpose of systematic reference. The almanac is organised into twenty-two subject sections, each corresponding to a recognised field of commercial activity. Entries are assigned to the section that best reflects the principal trade of the listed establishment.
The almanac currently holds 833 registered entries. Businesses span a wide range of industries: from wagering houses and medical practitioners to furniture traders, printing works, and computing services. The largest section, sundry trades, accommodates operators whose commercial activity crosses multiple sectors or falls outside the scope of the named categories. The smallest, land agents and property conveyance, reflects a specialised trade with a smaller but no less important presence in the register.
Recorder43 operates on the same principles as the historic trade almanacs of the mercantile era: neutrality, comprehensiveness, and systematic ordering. Entries are not ranked by authority, traffic, or commercial relationship. Each establishment appears in the register as an equal entry, identified by name, web address, and subject category.
Submission to the almanac is open to all web-based establishments. Proprietors wishing to add their business to the register may do so via the submission form. All submissions are reviewed for operational status and relevance before being admitted to the live catalogue. Businesses that do not meet the entry criteria are not catalogued.
Recorder43 does not endorse the content or services of listed establishments and makes no representations regarding the accuracy of individual entries over time. Users of the almanac are advised to verify the current operational status of any listed business independently before engagement.
